Greetings Northwest Chapter Family!
2016 and so far 2017 have been a busy for the Northwest Florida PBA Chapter. Last year began with our first Super bowl party at our new offices. This was followed up with months of tough negotiations on the Escambia Road Prison and Escambia County Corrections contract. The combining of these two contracts into a more improved version with better benefits for our members was big boost for our corrections members who have been working under a MOU for the past 3 years.
The Chapter conducted a political screening board for the 2016 election season and not only did the Chapter endorse the winner of both the Santa Rosa Sheriff and Escambia County Sheriff, but also of the 5 commissioner races we endorsed 4 out of 5 races in the Commissioner races of Santa Rosa and Escambia County.
Next the Chapter continued preparing and finally negotiating the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office contract. That contract concluded negotiations at the end of 2016 and currently is being reviewed by the lawyers on both sides before the new contract is presented to our membership for ratification.
This year the Chapter has begun the process of prepping for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Contract. Although this is in the early stages it looks to be a positive contract for our members and we look forward to getting this contract completed in the next couple of months.
As you can see we have been busy and working to improve the working conditions of our members. In addition to representing a number of officers in both discipline and critical incidents, the Chapter has also continued its support of our members with a number of events to support our members such as feeding the Deputies working the Blue Angel Air Show, providing Turkeys for the corrections shifts working during Christmas as well as the Dispatchers and report takers at the Escambia County sheriff’s Office to name just a few.
Remember we post our General Membership meetings from 6 months to a year in advance. Agendas for these meetings can be found on our Facebook page typically a day or so before the meetings. We look for to a great 2017 and hope our family will continue to grow and benefit from our efforts.
